Well, Ecuador is behind me, the cast is gone and now I am slowly but surely increasing my walking speed, bending my leg and getting around Peru almost like a normal person. Until this morning that is.... Last night, after arriving in Lima and looking forward to the joys of a bed again, i was sleeping soundly and then whak! I went to roll over and promptly feel straight off the bed and onto the floor a metre below taking half of the bedside table and the telephone with me. My room mate woke up with a start to see me lying on the floor flat on my back in shock and laughing. I now have a slightly twisted ankle to go with my broken knee. Talk about taking some stacks int he past few weeks. What a state I am in! I am certainly looking forward to trekking the Inca Trail in this clumsy state!
Anyway, most of Peru has passed in desert and stones and am looking forward to getting back into the highlands, even if that means getting back into to warmer clothes and losing my tan. Am enjoying the trip though. New people are joing just before the trek so that will be a nice injection of new personalities. Am finding South America is going very slow for me... Maybe its cause I know I am coming home, but it is not as fast as Africa seemed to be.... Anyway, off to enjoy some Peruvian food for dinner and see the next town, which hopefully will be a flight over the Nazca Lines.
