So far, I have been on the road for 20 days and have put up and taken down my tent 40 times. I have another 43 days to go and that means another 86 tent maneuvers before the end of the trip. Not that I am on the count down as it has been and continues to be heaps of fun, but of course there have been some down sides. It has been ages since I have blogged, so have a lot to fit into this one and will summarise, otherwise I will be here all day and it seems that internet in Tanzania is not too reliable.
GORIILAS: Were amazing. We trekked about 1 hour and a half to get there and it still seems surreal that we were even there. There was meant to be a 7 m distance kept at all times, but they were so close, at one point that blackback walked straight past us and was about 1 m away! It was amazing just sitting there with them and they ere pretty blaze about the situation. Got some good photos, although it was hard as the annoying obnoxious lady kept pushing in the front.
NAKURU National Park: First night bush camping and a little freaky hearing all the animals and knowing that they could just walk through our campsite. Saw Rhinos, Giraffes Lions shagging, Lioness killing a Baboon and heaps of gazelle and wilderbeast. Sweet!
MAASI MARA: Saw the Maasi warriors doing their traditional dance and it was great. Some excellent photos of the local kids. Mara was even better than Nakuru and we saw lions and their cubs eating their kill and the end of the migration into the Serengeti. Went Hot Air ballooning and was packing it a little until we got into the air and it was fantastic! Had a champagne break under the tree in the middle of the Mara and it was so lovely and I felt so spoilt.
Yesterday we crossed over into Tanzania and are on the way down to Zanzibar, which I CAN NOT wait for. Am going to indulge in some massages and pedicures and then lay on the beach and work on my tan and do some diving and general relaxing.
Other than that everything is going well. The obnoxious lady on our last part of the trip got a worm in her foot, which we all though was both funny and deserved - Thankfully I haven't been subjected to anything yet, not even am upset tummy!
Hugs and Kisses to all. Hope everything is going well in your part of the world. Will blog from the Beach.
